Google has just announced that a new ranking metric will go into effect later this year. The newest update showcases using mobile page speed as a ranking in mobile search results. So what does this mean for you and your SEO efforts?
Google has reported that this “Speed Update” will only have an impact on pages that have a slow experience for users and will only impact a small percentage of queries. Come July you can expect Google to look at how fast your mobile pages function and apply that as a ranking factor for mobile search. It is hard to tell now whether these factors will go beyond mobile phones, but we are staying tuned for the latest Google announcement.
No need to panic, these updates won’t go live until July 2018, but here’s what you need to know about this announcement.
